My approach to architecture

When I practice architecture I like to remember the need to create buildings that have a clear and functional purpose. That uses the minimum resources and that are focused on the constructive quality. I believe that these principles are responding to my moral responsibility and seeking to deal in particular with problems of ecological and social sustainability.
But then, I also believe that architecture should have a personality, not only in the interiors but also in the relation within its surroundings.  We could describe this personality with many names like atmosphere, presence, soul and ambiance.  Small architectural gestures tend to attract my attention, like the window that focuses a beautiful tree.

The relation between the different fields of creation

Even thought I like to consider each field of creation an independent subject, I also believe that ultimately all the arts are somehow connected. The designer and architect Charles Eames once said: “Eventually everything connects - people, ideas, objects. The quality of the connections is the key to quality per se”.
